5-MeO-DMT

5-MeO-DMT, also known as 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, is a powerful psychedelic compound that belongs to the tryptamine class of molecules. It is closely related to the better-known psychedelic DMT (N,N-dimethyltryptamine), differing only by the presence of a methoxy (CH3O−) functional group attached to the 5th carbon position of the indole ring. This small alteration significantly affects its pharmacological properties and subjective effects. Like DMT, 5-MeO-DMT is found naturally in various plants and in the venom of certain toad species, particularly the Colorado River toad (Bufo alvarius). It can also be synthesized in laboratory settings.
